Decentral Voltage Stabilization in DC-Grids

The energy transition and the resulting volatility of renewable energy sources present new challenges for voltage regulation in DC grids, as these grids must now be stabilized not in largely known and unchanging grid topologies, as was previously the case, but in grids with distributed generating units that are frequently connected and disconnected.

My research focuses on passivity-based control concepts. These enable decentralized stability guarantees, which in turn facilitate plug-and-play approaches for volatile power sources and loads. The goal is to successfully implement passivity-based voltage regulators for converters and controlled loads in laboratory experiments.
