Curriculum Vitae

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Stuttgart with Robert Bosch GmbH. Subsequently, master's degree in electrical engineering and information technology at KIT with focus on control engineering. Master thesis at the Institute of Control Systems (IRS) on the topic "Design of a Cooperative Trajectory Following Controller Between a Human and a Robot Based on Game Theory" (2022). Since November 2022 research and teaching assistant at IRS. Participation in the Baden-Württemberg Certificate for University Didactics in parallel to supervising the lectures Control of Linear Multivariable Systems, Student Innovation Lab and System Dynamics and Control Engineering. Member of the graduate school UpGrade Mobility.

Research

Safety Argumentation for Data-Driven Control

My research focuses on the safety-oriented integration of data-driven control methods in highly automated vehicles, using the safety assurance of trajectory-tracking control as a representative application. While theoretical approaches such as Safety Filters and Control Barrier Functions have been proposed for a wide range of application domains, there is still no consistent argumentation chain that demonstrates their actual safety contribution in practice, quantitatively assesses it, and integrates it into safety cases and test strategies.

The goal of my work is therefore to develop a coherent and quantitative framework “from Safety Filter to Safety Case.” Rather than extending existing methods, I critically examine current Safety-Filter concepts with regard to their practical applicability, normative relevance, and actual effectiveness in the context of functional safety.

The developed evaluation and validation strategies are implemented and tested in vehicle demonstrators — including collaborations with Schaeffler — to realistically assess the safety contribution of data-driven control approaches.
